House

So we went and looked at a house today. The paint was just really bad which is hard to overlook, but obviously easily fixable. I wish it had another bathroom, and it's older, but other than that we really, really liked it. A lot. It's three bedrooms, one bath, huge living room/dining room combo, smallish kitchen, and full basement. I had the last year's worth of utilities bills sent to me and they looked good. All under $200.00. I called and got preapproved for a loan and now we are sleeping on it. A home at this price, in this neighborhood is not going to come along often so we have to move fast if it want it. I could walk to Jaclyn's from it so that's a huge bonus.

Being a real adult!

Yesterday Jon and I went through 10 boxes of my sentimental crap that I've been lugging around for 20 years. I got it down to two rubbermaid containers. Then we took all of our cardboard to the recycling center and our old electronics to Best Buy to be recycled. I felt like such a good citizen! THEN we bought a new desk and stayed up until 11 trying to put it together. I hung in there until page 9 of 22 pages of instructions. That was when we decided to set it up and there was this horrible splintering sound and Jon started freaking out about how it was TOTALLY BROKEN FOREVER. I showed him that two chunks of wood came off the bottom pieces and it would be fine. Then I bailed. Apparently he didn't get much further because I came downstairs this morning and there are still 25 different desk parts on the floor. Maybe we can finish it up tonight. Next weekend: the junk room get organized.

Shut UP, Scooter!

No exciting news around here except that Scooter has been all messed up by Daylights Savings Times. He wakes me up at 6:15 now and meows from 6:15 to 7:15. I want to kill him. I can't kick him out of the room because of our stupid house layout. There is NO DOOR ON OUR BEDROOM. More the reason to move ASAP, I guess. Oh that and the fact that the light bulbs went out again. We only replace them once a month. The electricity in this house is seriously jacked up. I'm counting the days until February 28th. It's also getting colder so I'm just waiting on the morning I will wake up and the pipes are frozen. Again. Yay.

Kroger has snow shovels on sale and I'm getting one STAT. Last year Jon's brilliant idea was that we were going to shovel snow with....the trash can lid. I will never, ever let him live that down. I like to bring it up at least once a month because it was seriously the most ridiculous idea ever. This year: snow shovels fo sure.
